Meditation: Water

I rinsed the pot. Used my hand to reach in and scrub off the coffee grinds and oils. The water ran cool over my hand and then I felt the water. It swirled around my fingers. It rushed out of the faucet. I focused on the sensation of my hand feeling water. The sensation was so amazing that I wanted to touch this water, move this water, feel this water for a very long time. I then realized I wanted to touch other dishes and move the water in them. For a moment, I remembered what a thrill learning about touch was and is for children, without an agenda or a place to go or something to get done, they will leave the water running and feel how water feels on their skin, against a pan, running down their arms, splashing all over the counters.

I don’t do that. I make coffee instead.
